PRM Protocol™ Safety Profile

The PRM Protocol™ was born out of the want and need for a safer, more effective treatment for pelvic pain. We believe in providing not only a safe physical space for our patients, but a space that is emotionally safe as well. We do not take the trust of our patients lightly and are always checking in with them to ensure they are feeling comfortable and supported.

What are the side effects of treatment?

The point of PRM’s treatment is that it is extremely safe due to using ultrasound guidance which allows us to see where the needle is being placed and the use of extremely small diameter needles which are very safe.

The safety of the PRM Protocol™ is demonstrated through the fact that thousands of patients nationwide have undergone our office based procedures and the risk of an adverse event is less than .001%. Our office based procedures use a very small diameter needle allowing for both safety and comfort. The PRM office based treatments are simple, quick and safe procedures where you go on with your day afterwards.

Because our treatment aims to create space around the tightened chronically guarded muscles and restricted nerves, patients may experience some soreness or aching following the injection. This is a normal reaction to space being created within the pelvic floor.

You should always take the medication recommended by your pelvic pain specialist, and follow their directions for how to take care of yourself following treatment.

We always watch for vasovagal, especially during a patient’s first treatment. This is a rare side effect that can be caused by patients being anxious for their appointments.

We always combat this by providing our patients with a snack, and juice, and observing them while they sit on ice following treatment.

Safety of the PRM Protocol™

The safety of the PRM Protocol™ is demonstrated through the fact that our treatment is an ultrasound-guided approach to the pelvis. Because our approach to pelvic pain is conservative, our in-office treatment is the safest offering for healing pelvic pain and is provided by pelvic pain specialists who are highly trained by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Allyson Shrikhande, the creator of the treatment.
